Montana Grain Growers AssociationProudly advocating for Montana wheat and barley producers for over 60 years
The Montana Grain Growers Association was organized in 1956 when the Montana Crop Improvement Association and the associations from Northeastern Montana and South Central Montana merged into one organization. Norris Hanford, MGGA’s first president, would later describe the early functioning of the organization as: “we had no money, no postage, no secretary….but we struggled along.” It was a succinct description of how the association operated in its first few years. The passion of those early leaders to succeed and their never-give-up attitude eventually let to a strong representative organization that still serves the grain industry of Montana.
Today, MGGA is recognized as a grain industry leader and is the only organization dedicated solely to representing the interests of Montana wheat and barley producers. Working specifically on the issues critical to our growers’ success like crop insurance, the farm bill, trade policy, transportation, federal and state regulations and rising input costs, we have a long history of extraordinary success and our honesty, integrity and hard work have earned us the respect of our congressional delegation, state legislators and administrators at all levels.
